Caring for Coconino County

Commitment to Helping Others

A cornerstone of my life has been giving back to our community through volunteering and working with numerous community organizations which advocate for social and economic justice, animal welfare, economic development, the arts, open spaces, sustainability and conservation. I have been dedicated to helping others to protect the natural beauty of our region and have worked to maintain the quality of life in northern Arizona. Here are a few of the organizations where I currently hold a leadership or Board position.

Girl Scouts

I am a proud Girl Scout and serve as the troop leader of our local adult Girl Scout troop known as Troop Pearl. The Girl Scouts are the largest organization for girls and young women dedicated to building girls of character, courage, and confidence who make the world a better place. I feel honored and humbled to have been recognized as the 2018 Arizona Cactus Pine Girl Scout Women of Distinction.

Flagstaff Downtown Business Alliance

I am a member of the executive committee for the Board of Directors of the Flagstaff Downtown Business Alliance (FDBA). FDBA is a nonprofit organization made up of downtown businesses that are dedicated to preserving and promoting historic downtown Flagstaff and encouraging visitation to our downtown businesses. You may have seen our clean team around the downtown area picking up litter and assisting visitors. You probably enjoyed our downtown holiday lights and attended our family events like Movies on the Square, Breakfast with Santa or our Locals nights. Having a vibrant downtown adds to the economic vitality of our County and just makes our downtown a fun place to be.

Arizona Community Foundation of Flagstaff

I am a long-time board member of the Arizona Community Foundation of Flagstaff (ACFF) that serves as the local committee of the Arizona Community Foundation. ACFF holds and manages endowed funds and provides annual grants to our community nonprofits. During the 2019 grant cycle, ACFF awarded more than $3 million in grants and scholarships to over 100 community non-profit organizations. Every year I am amazed at the generosity and caring of the people in our community.

Launch Flagstaff Community Leadership Council

I am honored to be a member of the Community Leadership Council for Launch Flagstaff. Launch is committed to bringing world class education to every child in Flagstaff and to improve educational outcomes for every child from cradle through career.

With Winnie Wilson Hanseth, Paw Placement, Kim Musselman, Director of Special Initiatives, and Supervisor Liz Archuleta signing Second Chance facility to Coconino County.

Currently, we are involved in creating partnerships to bring a high-quality preschool program to the Flagstaff Unified School District. Investing in our youth and in education is one of my top priorities.

Paw Placement Advisory Board

As a longtime supporter of the former Second Chance Center for Animals, I was privileged to assist the Wilson family in fulfilling their parents’ dream and playing an integral part in the recent City/County/Paw Placement agreement to support a new animal welfare model utilizing the state of the art Second Chance facility. The facility now called High Country Humane provides animal welfare programs and services for Coconino County.
