Stronger As One: A County Based Partnership for Mental Health and Well-Being

The Coconino County Board of Supervisors has a direct impact on the quality of life for its residents. During this time of COVID, the County’s Social Safety Net has never been more important. This includes the County’s partnership with other local organization/agencies to form Stronger As One; promoting mental health and well-being.  This Coconino County sponsored coalition includes the Sheriff’s office, the City of Flagstaff and it’s police department, Coconino Community College, NAU, the NARBHA Institute, and Northern Arizona Healthcare Foundation. Together this collaboration provides resources for mental health first aid courses and promotes understanding, knowledge and training for mental health interventions, suicide prevention, and crisis management throughout County and City Departments and for all our residents.

Isolation, fear, depression, grief, and loss, especially during these trying times, take a toll on our overall well-being. Stronger As One is here to help. A list of resources can be found at: https://www.coconino.az.gov/2265/Stronger-As-One.  Or contact Northern Arizona crisis line at 1-877-756-4090.

As your next District 1 Supervisor, I will continue to build these public-private partnerships and coalitions to advocate and provide a variety of resources to meet the needs of our residents.  Stronger As One is an example of what we can do when we have the sensitivity and unity of purpose to advance mental health services and provide for the greater well-being of all members of our community.
